KyPass App Reviews

88 Customer Reviews:

Although Kypass is for me currently one of the better implementations for KeePass2 at MacOS, much features are missing: e.g. -no "save as“ -funktion -no „save“ - button in the toolbar -no separate window for showing the entries under the list. -no way to sort or rearrange the group entries (its sorted from down to up!) -many funktions, setting and tool known from the windows keepass2 are missing. (Import, Export, Merge, Sync, DB-Tools, PW-Gen, Options..) There are some oddities as a "status" field in the tool bar, which purpose remains unclear. The worst thing is a completely useless help, because it apparently belongs to an entirely different tool (CoRD)!

It

I had been using this KeePass client on my mac for some time now, but switched to MacPass when I saw there were other MacOSX options. Im liking MacPass better.

Doesn’t work

I purchased the app on my 2015 MacBook Pro and it doesn’t work. Click on the icon and no application window appears. Waste of time and money.

I tried several times to launch the application, but no window appears (even if there’s a running task). I tried to go on the support for help… But hey, nothing is in english...

First I want to say I like to new App, nice UI, generally the best I have seen for OSX. But again, there are still may open issues: - Automatic loading last opened file on startup not possible - Deleting folders from recycle bin not working - No Import/Konverting of kdb-files (keepass 1.x) - No Import of KeePass-XML - Unclear "Add" button, adding groups or entries? - Where are the settings? So I hope the developers keep on working, this could become a really great app.

I like the idea of having a native OS X client for keepass, but I am heavily missing a sync option or remote access option. I am syncing keepass using webdav over multiple platforms. I expected to see such a feature in this client too. When this feature arrives I’d say the app is worth the money. But up to now its not usable for me. Thus I am staying with 1password….

The KyPass OS X app will basically function, will read KeePass 1 and 2 files, but create 2.0 files only (no issues there). The whole handling of groups, entries and above all “mouse positioning” is buggy, e.g.: - you cannot right click on a line without first left clicking to select the line; - there is no option to return to the highest group level; - cannot change the icon for groups; Once the data is stored in iCloud, there is no option to extract it and save the whole file to KDBX format on the local disk. The QR scan function looks funny but is quite useless with over 300 passwords stored. Another round of optimizations and improvements will mature this application, I’m hoping for the next version (KeePassX cannot handle 2.0 files and this seemed a reasonable alternative).

Don’t buy! Integration is really bad

The intergration is really bad. Never try to move or group things won’t work. Won’t even spent a Cent on this App again!

to make it short: the version 1.1 is definitely far away from the original application keypass. BUT it does the job somehow: it reads kdbx files, writes them almost with no errors and is the best native MAcOSX implementation of keepass, *much* better than running keepass with mono. Unfortunately it freezes on 10.9 from time to time, editing within kdbx is tricky and it lacks all those comfort functions like CTRL-V. And support is bad, almost no reaction, the link in App Store leads to an abandoned forum… Anyway: it’s much cheaper as other password safes and the kdbx is interoperable with many other platforms.

Bought the app, first impression was great and still is. However one of the latest updates broke the KeePassHTTP support, which is really a crucial component in order to use the browser integration without having to copy the passwords that you need all the time. The support page or whatever they actually pretend this is, is just a mess - you can’t really get support there, which is why I’m writing here now. Please fix this as soon as possible.

Does not opens kdxb

Hi The app does not open any existing KDBX file. Although my password is accepted, but the list of content is not displayed.

Kalorie99 v1.4 · 12 years ago

Contrary to the update report, the expiration dates aren’t supported. The Application just strikes out all enries, that have “expires” set to true, regardless of the date that is set.

nomad_at_itunes v1.4 · 12 years ago

Hi, my existing kdbx file (created with keepass on a Windows machine) can not be opened. I always get the „Invalid Password“ error although the password is correct.

Works fine for me

It works with my Windows v2.x created database with a key file. I’m only missing the autotype function.

freaky-m0 v1.4 · 11 years ago

It’s a really nice app, i like it. I only missing two functions that open the last Database i used and it would be great to implement an auto type function like in KeePass under Windows. I have no Problems with the Database, i sync. it with my own cloud at home for an Windows PC, Mac, Iphone and IPad. The Price for the Programm is a little bit to much but OK. I see forward for the missing functions. Thanks for this APP

Xabways v1.5 · 11 years ago

the only usable password database accross different platforms. it is just a bit enerving that it cannot automatically open the last database. Still I use this app daily :) hopefully the missing function will come in the future.

Please update for Yosemite!

Please update the UI for Yosemite. Thank you!

KyPass is useable to manage your KeePass database, but do not have many functions. The left sidebar have a very bad design - black background is not good for grey titles and icons. Please change the background color to white or the appeareance of icons and title. Furthermore, there is not support for KeeOTP :-(
