Good on MBP; not working on Air

Kypass has worked great for me on my MBP. I recently got a Macbook Air however and it does not want to load. There seems to be some relavent log messages coming in on the console. If you can help me please let me know…I’d love to be able to access my keepass database from all my Mac devices.

Latest version breaks attributes

Was going to put in 4 stars but the support website seems to be consistantly down. Knocked down to 3 It appears that this latest version breaks attributes being added to new keys. When adding a new key and then attempting to add an attribute it does nothing. Only way I found to add an attribute is to create the key, close the database, open the database, edit the key, add attribute. Rather annoying workaround :/ Overall thought great product just needs some bug fixing

Decent, but possibly unsafe to use

If you regularly back up your keepass database, this is less of a concern, but... Kypass Companion, critically, ignores the keepass1 database lock file, raising the possibility of a race condition with other keepass instances. This is very concerning, and should be addressed before anyone uses this without frequently backing up their database file. Additionally, the app is missing some critical features. Its quick-search does nothing but open a web page (apparently), and there is no auto-fill. To give you an idea of how unfinished this product is, the Help option on the Help menu does nothing but inform you that no documentation is available. Overall it just seems like an unfinished idea.

In Yosemite left navigation items are not readable

I love this app and have been using for more than a year now. I sync the KDBX file using OneDrive from my Mac OS X to my Windows 8 PC where I use the same file with KeePass 2.X official release. The app works flawlessly and I have great experience with the file working between the platforms. With Mac OS X Yosemite release, the left navigation in the app has become unreadable, due to the foreground and background having similar colour hue. Currently there is no settings to change it, but I am sure the developer can release a fix quickly.

Needs Some Improvements

On the good side, it does open Keepass databases. The bad: On Yosemite the folder list items are black font on grey background making them nearly impossible to read. Doesn’t seem to remember password after time-out without closing and re-opening (despite setting to use keychain). Doesn’t support auto type, and no apparent grapical option to copy username/password (must use keyboard shortcuts).

Do not buy!

Stay away. This developer is terrible. App constantly crashes. Features do not work. Do not buy. Worst 7.99$ I’ve ever spent, and that is saying a lot.

Works great!

Works great for keeping my password database on my iMac synced with KeePass on my PC and MiniKeePass on my iPhone and iPad. My only request for improvement would be adding a keyboard shortcut to make the application appear instantly.

Current version a bit unstable

I’ve been using Kypass on iOS, iPad since v1. It’s a great way to sync with KeePass on the windows side. Moving to the Mac version seemed like a no brainer. Overall, it’s a reasonable port of the iOS version, nowhere near the functioanlity of the the Windows KeePass. My problem is that’s pretty unstable in the current version. Add new records will often crash, frequently enough that I stopped doing that and just add new records on Windows or iOS. Even opening the app will often result in a crash. Please fix this, it’s unusable now.

Crash after crash, can’t be used

This version is terrible. When you input something in search box up-right corner, this app alwasy crash at this step.

Missing one key function

I have been using it for a few days and it has worked flawlessly with my Windows Keypass files, however I have a group that reports to me and we all have our local copies that we synchronize back to a master file on a server. Without that sync, I am still forced to go back to my Windows Keypass app to sync. Put in that function and I will happily raise my rating.

new version worse than previous

After updating to the current version KyPass always crashes when I try to search for anything (seems connected to the popup box?) - also the Chrome Plugin doesn’t work anymore?! Hopefully new versions will be tested properly before release… Please fix this soon - I need access to my passwords WITH the search functionallity EDIT: Disabling the Chrome Plugin seems to help...

If only it worked like KeePass!

KyPass is a great tool to allow you to access KeePass files on a Mac. I’m not upset that it is a paid app - happy to support the developer. I do wish it were more reliable though. KyPass crashes multiple times a day on my new MacBook Pro (summer 2014 model). The app works - works well when it’s running. If it would stop crashing multiple times a day I’d rate it a 5. I guess I’m spoiled. I have been using KeePass on the PC for over a decade and love it! I moved to a Mac a few years ago as I needed more reliability and longevity than I was able to find on the PC side of life. Unfortunately KeePass doesn’t support the Mac like virtually every application I use. It’s open source so I’ve gotten far more than I’ve paid for with KeePass. Although - if anyones listening I’d be happy to pay for a premium version of KeePass that worked as well on the Mac as it has for the last decade on PC’s.

Was good at one time

But now it crashes all of the time. It has gotten to the point that I am using the Mono port, because it at least works. I wish I could at least go back to the version that worked.

finally!

I’ll give it five stars now that the search crash has been fixed. Best Mac version the KyPass port there is. great integration and parallel use of the best windows versions of KeyPass.

KeePassX is Better

KeePassX is a better, and it’s 100% free also.

Best OS X Keepass client out there.

I made the mistake of putting all of my secrets into a Keepass 2.x database - when I switched to a Mac, I was stuck without my Keepass database until KyPass came along. I have one nagging critique of the app - the icon needs some polishing, but seriously that’s about it.

Excellent App!

Totally worth the money because it saves the headache of trying to get keepass 2.x working with mono! My only concern is that I’m seeing notifications that “keepasshttp” is outdated. Hoping that will be remedied soon.

By far best keypass-compatible OS X client

I’ve been trying to use the free solutions (KeePassX, which was “ok”), but finally bit the bullet and bought Kypass Companion when I got my new mac. It was money well spent. It just works - slurps up my database, works like I expect *including* with keepasshttp (very important to me), fast, straightforward UI - totally great. Nitpicks: It would be nice if it could disappear to the menu bar at the top (and not take up space in the dock), and with all due respect, boring icon. But - if those are the big complaints, you are doing really well. I have had *one* crash, so there may be some stability issues, but I relaunched and was back in business 2 seconds later. Keep up the good work. Update: A feature I miss is database merging. I have my keepass database saved on a shared drive - it would be nice if when I saved and a newer version of the database is there if it would merge the two (deleting duplicates, of course). The regular Keepass for windows does this, as does KeePassX, so I kinda got used to it. Please?

great app for keepass

The app works well for my own keepass database stores. I’ll admit that the web browser extension doesn’t work the greatest, but it hasn’t hindered me too much. The one option that I’d like is to have a preference setting for opening up a default keepass file.

Sort of works, not worth the asking price (as it currently functions)

Coming from Windows 7 and having used the (free) KeePass application with the (free) KeePass Firefox extension for years, this is a large step backwards for an unjustified price. Here are the advantages: 1) UI is decently pretty. 2) Opens KeePass 2.x files 3) Works much snappier than KeePass under Mono/Quartz (though I’m thinking I should go that route anyway) Here are the drawbacks: 1) The search functionality does not work when looking for contents of the ‘URL’ field, even when that is a configured search criteria and at least on URL field contains what you’re searching for. 2) There is no analagous “auto-type” function which will paste the contents of a username, hit tab (or some other per-entry configurable key combo), and then paste the contents of the password into highlighted fields, ala KeePass. 3) The search box is too small, and you can’t see what you’re typing once characters fill the screen. Resizing the window doesn’t fix this. You can’t even scroll further to the right with the cursor to see what you typed. 4) This app needs WAY MORE hotkeys. I could only discern three of them (find, copy username, copy password) 5) No online help (There is an option for it, but then it says, there’s no help available). 6) I can’t figure out what the bundled Firefox extension does…it doesn’t seem to work AFAICT.
